Interview with Ryan Lonergan

Shawnee Mission South's new head coach Ryan Lonergan was kind enough to give me some of his time and answer some ?'s heading into his first game as a head coach. Lonergan isn't new to coaching completely with stops at Olathe North, and SM. West. Lonergan was also a teacher at local middle school Hocker Grove.

Q- How's it feel to finally be a head coach?

A- Becoming a head coach is a dream come true! I've known I wanted to do this since I was a kid. So I have been working very hard to make this dream become a reality.

Q- How do you feel the Raiders will stack up this year?

A- I truly think we can become a very competitive team by the end of the year. These kids are working very hard and learning how I want things done. I'm sure there will be quite a few bumps in the road, but I think these boys are ready to fight through them and get better through the experience.

Q- What problems do you see that North will give you guys?

A- One thing is sure, North is moving in the right direction. They play hard and have good schemes that are tough to prepare for. We have to play assignment sound football on defense and tackle well. On offense we'll have to control the ball and not turn the ball over.

Check back soon for an interview from SM. North coach Dennis Grayless.
